How to Be Popular in Middle School (for Girls)

Be funny, but don't say lame things. Being weird isn't bad, but if you go too far with it, people will think you're an insane-weird type of person; be unique, truthful, and appropriate. It's always okay to be random or spontaneous.(Just don't go overboard.) If you don't know how to be funny then just go online and get a few jokes there. Make sure to avoid getting into trouble. Be yourself! Be nice to people who are mean to you. They might even end up becoming your friends.

Treat Others How You'd Like to be Treated. Also corny, but this phrase rings with truth. If you are rude or mean, other people will be equally horrible to you. The only way to keep from being gossiped about, is to keep from gossiping. Ever heard the phrase "point a finger, and have three pointing back at you"? It's true. No one is going to like you if you're not nice. Being popular doesn't mean being a blond, beautiful but snobby cheerleader; (stereotype)it means people liking you for who you are.

Be yourself.
Yes, it's corny, yet definitely true. Don't force yourself to dress in a way that you dislike. If you don't act like yourself, you will attract people that have nothing in common with you. Don't pretend to enjoy anything that you dislike, or be friends with people to your displeasure. By pretending to be someone you're not, you will only be digging yourself deeper and deeper into a hole of lies and self hatred. Not immediately, but the time will come.

If you excel in a talent that you don't have to get active about, then share it.Example: If there, for some reason, is a piano in a room and no one is using it, get everyone's attention by playing that wonderful piece of Mozart (or whomever what musician) and start playing.
  • Enter your school's talent show! You can play an instrument, plan a funny skit with your friends, etc.
  • If you excel in a more active sport, join your school's sports team. You will get to know others who relate to you in a way. If you're a funny kind of person, make some jokes out on the field. And once you step up to bat, or to play, this time is the best; most challenging part. Wow your audience by putting on a show, and you are the star.

Be confident. Remember that shy girls really do not attract very much attention at all, and if you are not confident you are an easy target for bullies

Be a social butterfly, and meet everyone you can. Get everyone's number when you meet them, that way you can text them and texting is an easier way to build a relationship.

Smile at everyone. Show the world you're an amazing, bright, awesome positive person

Put Yourself Out There: Get noticed! How can you be popular if no one knows who you are? Say hello to the person that sits next to you in Science, Math, Reading, etc. Sit with somebody new at lunch. Make a promise to yourself that every day you will meet different people. While meeting new people, make sure to get to know them. Don't just say you've met the person.
  • If you think that talking to that person would make you less popular, don't gossip about them. Just treat them like an everyday person.
    • Whispering stuff about them into a popular girl's ear just lets them know you're talking about them, not showing them you're cooler than them (FYI: This doesn't normally make you more or less popular, so why do it?) Even though the first few times you gossip in that way about them would make them feel awful, they will eventually get back at you by ignoring you, telling an adult (if it becomes an issue), laughing at you with their friends, or worse, say something to you like, "You know, that's not very nice. How would you like it if someone were to do that to you?" or something like that. Then THEY'LL win by showing you that you have no right to hurt anyone in any way.

All you need in order to have a popular wardrobe is clothing that expresses your sense of style and uniqueness. Pay attention to what the popular girls wear and where they shop.
Wear your clothes with confidence and style. You should try to dress fashionably, and trendy, but don't wear something just because "everyone else is wearing it." Be original, not a clone of all the others.
  • If your school does not have a dress code, try wearing trendy and unique clothes, but don't do something too crazy and strange. Stores like Rave, Pac Sun, Juicy, Anchor Blue, 5-7-9, Target, and Kohl's have great unique clothes.
  • On the other hand, if your school has a dress code, try to manipulate it and push the rules as far as you can to look unique and stand out. Don't do it to the extent of getting in trouble, though.
  • When choosing out pants or jeans, make sure they fit properly. The back pockets shouldn't bag down to the top of your legs.
  • Neon colors, black, and white are sure to help you to stand out in the hallways.
  • Nordstrom, Zappos, thrift stores and boutiques are good to try. Shop at a variety of stores and have a huge variety of sizes and styles. Do wear some stuff other people wear, though, like Abercrombie or Hollister, too.

Accessorize with sparkly bangles, cool hoops, shiny colorful rings, and the like.

Get an awesome backpack or bag and wear it with confidence! Choose one that expresses you.
